wow bob thats insane... you haven't finished the main playthrough in morrowind and oblivion?!? I have a few friends here at work that did the same thing. Just wandered around the world and did the random quests.
Yeah, I think I sunk about 250 hours into a single Oblivion character over the course of multiple playthroughs, and I never closed a single Oblivion gate. For some reason, I have an incredibly difficult time working on the main quest. I'm all about maxing my character out, and once that's done, I tend to be burnt out on the game.

I just finished the Mage quests, those were very fun. I'm hoping the Companion ones are just as good, and then the Thieves guild and Dark brotherhood are calling my name. But in between each of those ill try to do a few main questline ones. For balance...
The Mages Guild quests were fantastic, but it seemed a bit short overall. The Thieves Guild quests were much more fulfilling this time around. That said, the payoff for beating the Mages Guild quest series was quite a bit better.
I started the Companions quests and got part way through, but got completely distracted. It's still on my list of things to do. The Dark Brotherhood quests are also a priority, but they might have to wait until my next stint.
Here is some more eye candy from the game. The first screenshot is showcasing the Enhanced Night Sky mod, and I turned off the HUD for both screenshots using the
tm console command. Since they're rather large, I'll hotlink them instead of posting the pics inline:
