Microsoft finally admitted what we always knew: PCs are the ultimate gaming system!  Check out this e-mail I received from MSFT...

If you want to check out Briney's work, Red Faction: Guerrilla is 25% off on Steam this weekend.  It'll be $29.99 through Sunday evening.

I started playing it a few days ago and I'm having a blast.  The 5.1 sound issue hasn't been fixed yet, which is kinda gay, but the game is incredibly addicting.  Think of it as GTA set on Mars without hookers and with the ability to blow up darn near anything.

microsoft takes their own sweet time to review anything for approval. hence the patch taking forever.

Out of curiosity, why does Microsoft have to review a patch for the PC port?  Is this a requirement for Ga(y)mes for Windows Live?

By the way, if I pay extra, can you put the hookers in?

yea games for windows live is extremely frustrating to work with. They have to review any changes and do their own testing. There usually is a min of a 2 week wait, but right now its longer cause they have so much stuff to test for the fall season.

It would have been nice to just stay on steam and do online there, but gamestop would not allow it (retailers have a HUGE say in game releases these days). They dont want people making exclusive purchases/upgrades through an online medium they cant control. at least thats my understanding. It's pretty stupid if you ask me.

It'll be great when publishers can just give retailers the finger.  We'll probably pay more of a markup for consoles and accessories that need retail space, but if the PSP Go and PSN/XBL downloads are any indication we're (finally) moving toward a largely download-based marketplace.  I'll be a very, very happy man when GameStop dies in a fire.

It's been a long time since SatellaView and XBand hit the market, so it's about darn time!

Oh, and it'll be even better when developers can give publishers the finger.

-b0b
(...of course, that will probably happen right about the time artists give big media the finger.)

The demo for Left 4 Dead 2 went live for those that pre-ordered the game.  The only problem is that it doesn't seem to work:

I'm sure Valve will get this fixed quickly, but it's still sort of embarrassing.

We got our first "Red Ring of Death" on the XBox last night.  Lovely.  I'll call Microsoft later tonight and see what it takes to get it repaired.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a Microsoft fanboy, but their hardware has always been pure crap.

They will send you a box that you ship the Xbox back to them in, and then they send you a new one or a refurbished one to replace it.

I've seen it happen like..oh 40 times.

As much as I want to go all NEEEEEEEERD RAGE on Microsoft, it's entirely futile.  We ordered our shipping box today, and we'll see how it goes.  As long as I don't get some scratched-up refurb, everybody can walk away unscathed.

In case anyone was wondering, the demo for Left 4 Dead 2 is amazing.  It's very much the successor of Left 4 Dead, but the game play/graphics improvements, new characters, new weapons, and new locations are completely worthwhile.

Although I probably won't get around to playing when it hits the shelves in two weeks due to tomorrow's release of Dragon Age: Origins (&*#$ yeah!), it's definitely on my short list of games to play.

I can't tell you guys how stoked I am about Dragon Age.  I checked out the Character Creator the other day so I could get my in-game freebie item, and I beat the mediocre Flash game Dragon Age Journeys three times so I could get more in-game freebies.  I frickin' hate Flash games.

I finished preloading the game on Steam yesterday.  I wish I was a teenager once again so I could stay up until the midnight release and get in an hour or two of game time, but sadly Real Life™ makes that impossible.

I took four hours of vacation time tomorrow afternoon, though, so I'll get to game and get paid for it.  Take that, teenagers!
