It's been a while since I've had a chance to really dive into a game with any real depth. I just finished playing Firewatch, a first-person exploration title that drops you into the middle of the Shoshone National Forest as a firewatch (betcha didn't see that coming) keeping an eye on miles of untouched forest. Your only companion in the game is Delilah, a fellow firewatch stationed many miles away. You are limited to radio contact, which provides much of the atmosphere in the game.
It's a fairly quick game, weighing in at roughly 4 hours, but the experience is worth every penny. From a technical standpoint, the graphics aren't anything special, but the developers have created a really beautiful world that I just couldn't get enough of. The story manages to bundle in a number of different mysteries into the 4-hour play time, packed with intrigue, romance, and a touch of horror.
All in all, it was a great experience, and one that I highly recommend.
